Sword Bean(Akanata Mame)-RED BROWNISH SEED

The name Sword Bean(Canavalia Gladiata) is actually due to the seed pod's resemblance to the blade of a sword. Botanically, it is known as Canavalia gladiata and originates from tropical Asia and Africa. It is used as a vegetable in interior central and south central India, though not commercially farmed. The fruits are eaten as a vegetable in Africa and Asia. This tropical Japanese cultivated bean is only harvested when the pods are young and tender. The dense, glossy green pods are flat, have a ridged edge, and taste like snap beans. This variety has pink/red flowers. Large vines grow quickly and should be trellised. The fruits are eaten as a vegetable in Africa and Asia.
