Hybrid White Short Snake Gourd, Potlakaya-Serpent

This is the most common variety of snake gourd found in Southern India. This hybrid snake gourd produces lots of fruit. Silver green in color. 5.5-6.5 feet long, straight and tube like shape, prolific behavior, with high yielding variety, all round the year growing, vigorous tall type variety. In India it is a common sight to see them growing with rocks tied to their ends so they don't curl.

Vigorous well branched vine will produce fruit in 60-65 days.

Snake gourd can easily grow in containers (5 Gallon pot). Snake gourd flowers during daylight hours. Sometimes may need hand pollination to set fruit. Harvest young tender fruit before it matures to retain its tenderness. Use in curries. The shoots, tendrils and leaves can also be eaten as greens. Harvest Season Summer, Rainy season, Winter.

Note:-Snake gourd seeds are considered difficult to germinate. We recommend you to file the sides of the seed coat with a nail filer/cutter or soaked the seed in warm water overnight before sowing.
