It is also an excellent choice for home gardeners due to its adaptability, early maturation, and resistance to common diseases. Sow in spring or summer for a delicious and versatile crop.
Growing Instruction
Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost date or sow directly outdoors when soil temperatures reach 50°F (10°C). Plant seeds 1/4 inch deep, with 12-18 inches between plants and 24-36 inches between rows. Cabbage prefers full sun and fertile, well-draining soil with a pH of 6.0-7.0. Keep the soil consistently moist and provide ample nutrients for best results. Harvest when heads are firm and have reached the desired size.
Tips: Cabbage plants do better when planted near herbs like dill and rosemary. Avoid planting cabbage near strawberries, tomatoes or pole beans.
